Experience the joy of weaving and unleash your creativity in a professional, welcoming environment. Whether you are looking for a social group setting or tailored one-on-one instruction, my sessions are designed for all levels—from curious beginners to experienced weavers.
Ideally located near Leiden and Wassenaar, between Amsterdam and The Hague, my workshops are easily accessible by car, train or bike.
Location: Leiden & Wassenaar
Join a small group of like-minded creators to learn the foundations of weaving. These scheduled sessions are held in Leiden and Wassenaar and are the perfect way to start your journey in a social, "gezellig" atmosphere. Choose from a 3-hour Discovery session, a creative weekend weaving a scarf, or a technical multi-day Foundations course.
Location: Oegstgeest or Your Home
Looking for dedicated one-on-one guidance or a private event for your own group? Whether you are struggling to dress your loom, need a technical refresher, or want to host a creative session for friends or coworkers, I offer instruction tailored entirely to your goals. These sessions take place in my home studio in Oegstgeest or at your home.
Small groups: I keep groups small so I can adapt to individual needs. This allows everyone to work at their own pace while still receiving plenty of guidance.
Hands-on learning: I focus on practical skills that you can actually repeat on your own loom at home.
Solid foundations: We focus on getting the setup, tension, and structure right. Understanding these mechanics is the best way to gain the freedom to experiment.
Design and Color: You will have the space to make your own choices, but I also provide guided instruction on color theory and design so you can make informed decisions about your work.
A calm, individual pace: Because the environment is unhurried, you have the time to truly absorb the craft and learn in a way that suits you.
Lessons are conducted on dedicated student looms, which are provided for a small fee. All necessary equipment is available, so you do not need to own a loom to begin.
I offer weaving classes in Leiden, Oegstgeest, Wassenaar and Den Haag. Private sessions can also be arranged at your preferred location.
I have over ten years of weaving practice, shaped by experimentation, mistakes, and continuous learning. Teaching is a vital part of my own practice; students often raise challenges that help me grow as both a weaver and a teacher.
My approach is flexible and student-led. With beginners, I focus on helping you feel comfortable with the loom before introducing too many rules. For more advanced weavers, I am here to help you navigate the "why" behind structures so you can design your own unique textiles.
I make sure the fundamentals are right—from the loom setup to ensuring good tension—but I don’t believe there is only one "right way" to do things. I encourage creativity and learning how to work with unexpected outcomes. There are no mistakes, only design features. I often share my own mistakes to illustrate what I have learned from them, and I guide you when you struggle without being rigid or prescriptive.
I strive to simplify the weaving process. I have regularly have students come to me after taking courses elsewhere, feeling frustrated because they couldn't set up their looms at home. My priority is making sure you understand the "how" so you aren't dependent on a classroom setting.
Nothing makes me happier than when a student sends me a photo of a project they finished long after our class ended. When I see that pride in their work, I know I haven't just taught a class—I have helped make a weaver.
